Other Angiosperms from North America

What are Other Angiosperms? Some plants, like the water lilies, star anise, peppers, magnolias, winter’s bark, nutmeg, and laurels share reproductive and anatomical characters with other flowering plants, so they are classified as angiosperms. However, they either lack certain characters or have a combination of characters common to both monocots and dicots. Thus, their relationships are unclear and are still under study. The fossil record of members of this group goes back to the Cretaceous.

Last known fossil occurrence: Quaternary. This group has living relatives.
